Upon closer inspection, orange chrysanthemums are really a mixture of red and yellow, just as the color orange itself is halfway between red and yellow in a gamma-compresssed RGB color space.
Azure, a greenish-blue, is the complimentary color to orange on the color wheel.
The word "orange" comes from the Sanskrit word "naranja." It's first recorded use was in 1512, in the court of Henry VIII. Before that, the color was referred to as "geoluhread," which means yellow-red in Old English.
I hope you are taking notes. There will be a pop quiz later in the week.
