Spring Sneakin'

2010 03 27_7074ec

One of these days I'm going to get one of these Magnolia trees -- that way I don't have to sneak around in other people's yards to take pictures of them.
:-) Happy Spring, y'all!

Spring

Yesterday the twig was brown and bare;

To-day the glint of green is there;

Tomorrow will be leaflets spare;

I know no thing so wondrous fair,

No miracle so strangely rare.

I wonder what will next be there!

~L.H. Bailey

Spring-y

Spring

nature springs hope skyward
launching the dreams of millions of leaflets
desperate to achieve
autumn-color stardom

finally...spring

It is finally showing signs of spring around here
there are little buds on the shrubs...
some blades of grass are greening up...

but no flowers yet, so we have to be happy...
with grocery store tulips!

ps, I'm back from a little hiatus.  It feels good to be here!

Spring

Sometimes, spring in Ohio looks just like this.

We woke to one inch of snow this morning.
Spring? What spring?

signs of spring

dogwood blooms always mean easter to me...and spring.  i found my first ones today.

spring...

birds singing merrily
to greet a new dawn
flowers opening their arms
to welcome the warm sun
spring is in the air.
one love.

Spring - House Hunting

Mr. & Mrs. Bluebird discussing a possible new home to nest in.
He flew down and checked it out while she waited for his report.

Anyone know about their nesting habit?
I cleaned out one house and left an old nest in another, unsure if they preferred to move in to an already "furnished" place. No takers on either place yet.

Spring Time Show-Off

Spring time show-off.
Actually there are four.
It's a frisky time of year.
A time to make more.

When Spring Arrives...

When spring arrives it feels to me that an old friend who has journeyed long, has finally arrived on my doorstep. I fling the door open with delight and even though I’m expecting her, I’m always a little surprised at her arrival.

But always…always…I throw my arms around her and we dance in the sheer delight of each others company. She stands there smiling brightly…slightly windswept and wearing a spring dress of blossom pink and new leaf green that whispers softly as she moves.

How long can you stay"?” I ask her and she smiles and says vaguely “Oh, at least a few months”. She never stays too long as she doesn’t cope well with the heat of summer but I know, I just know, we’re going to have a wonderful time together while she’s here…we always do.

Hello Spring, I’m so glad you’ve come!

Sweet Spring

spring....

it's here
playing shy
but
we see it peeking out from behind the freshly filled bird feeders
and
we feel it
but
mostly
we
handle it with care
~~
i wonder if spring understands how precious it is to us
