I was hoping to find some interesting words on a wall or funny sign this week but I still had not found anything when Taylor came home carrying this book that she found at an abandoned house. The cover was torn and the pages tattered and stained and falling out, but it was beautiful - a book filled with poems about friendship and old fashioned floral paintings and pen and ink drawings - published in 1961. While she was scanning the floral paintings I took the inside cover and first page of the book and photographed it. Can you read it?

Rocks area Sydney New South Wales
Remnants of an era long gone.

of course....

shouldn't this be on a wall in all of our houses
reminding us daily
what's really important

~char....do you know where this is from~

Shiela Mary Fletcher

As I sit on a bench overlooking
the Columbia River in Vancouver, WA
I looked down to find my feet placed beside a memorial plaque.
I stopped and pictured her in my mind. What she may of
looked like, how she dressed and if she as well
enjoyed sitting looking at the river in this exact place.
Someone dear wanted to share her memory by
sponsoring a place in the park to enjoy the day.
I may never return to this spot for I accidentally ended up here.
Or did I?
I thanked her for sharing this opportunity.

Searching for the Right Words

Eternal Truths

My son loved lasagne
and his Polaroid camera,
writing music,
and playing it,
writing books and essays.
What he didn't love was life.
I'm making lasagne today for his 31st birthday.
I didn't make it for his 27th,
even though he half-heartedly asked me to.
I talked him into something else,
because of one of the family members.
I didn't know he would be gone a month later.
I won't make that mistake again.
Happy Birthday, Joshua.

I have to admit I took this photo a couple weeks ago when I was in Vancouver.
I love seeing all the boats in the marina, I loved the name on the boat,
Schools Out.
It makes me think of fun times.
Schools Out for Summer,
It also makes me think that owner is a lucky fellow.
What fun!

Text

Hi everyone...it's my turn to choose a theme for the week and I thought I'd do something a little different. The theme is Text so your quest this week is to go exploring for words or text that amuse, inspire, surprise, etc. It could be a sign, graffiti, a saying on a t-shirt, a gravestone, store windows, text in a book, an old document or....? I can't wait to see what you discover!

This is a door mat that made me smile (no, NOT mine but I sympathize with the sentiments!) that I saw lying on the sidewalk, outside of a home decor shop this weekend.
