I am not a coffee or tea drinker, so I was struggling a little bit with this topic, but that's what I love about this project, it makes me think outside of the box for what to photograph!
This is my very first tea set. My grandmother made it for me in 1979 and I love that on the bottom of the platter it says "To: Jennie" - she was the only one that ever spelled my name that way and I always loved that. This tea set now sits on my daughter's bookshelf as her first tea set. It is tiny, the entire set fits in the palm of my hand which makes it even more special to me, I think often of how delicate my grandmother's hands were to have made this for me, her last granddaughter, last grandchild of twelve. And although my daughter did meet her great-grandmother, she will not have her own memories of her, but she will know her and she will understand the woman who made this tea set for her mommy.
That is so beautiful...and so sentimental since your Grandmother made it for you...and you have passed it on.
ReplyDeleteJenny, that is beautiful, love that she made it for you. It is amazing the things we value ,the most are precious items like these. You can tell the bond between you, her and your daughter.
