Saturday, I took a few minutes out of the day to drive down the back roads near my home. I haven't done that in a long time and I miss it. Many years ago, my youngest son and I would drop his siblings off at school in the morning and then for the next 30 or 40 minutes we would go exploring. We'd drive and drive, just to see what there was to see. We'd take a road just to find out where we would end up.
After so many trips, I knew where I would end up Saturday, but I still wanted to see what I might see. As I downloaded the pictures taken on that drive, I realized that this photo makes me feel serene. I think it's because it is a visual representation of a simpler lifestyle, a lifestyle I miss. I miss those long gone days that were filled with mundane tasks and small children. Those days were busy, but they were also simple.

I really like this shot for the desire it makes me feel to visit a place where there are barns and fields like this. We don't have barns like this at all and it so typifies the American countryside for me. Oh for the simpler days
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful - where is it?
ReplyDeletethose were the simple days when they were little...NOW we realize that but at the time, not so much....

ReplyDeleteawhile...like that you got the white fence in the photo
Char, it is out in Clay. Are you familiar with the area. It is between Pinson and Trussville.
ReplyDeleteI love barns with Dutch grambrel roofs...and red is the best color for a barn. Beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLiving in the country is always referred to as the simple life. Although this term does not always seem like a flattering one I think the country folk have one up on the city folk.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Barn, it was worth the drive.
I heart barn shots! This is a great one.
ReplyDeleteLove this shot! My mother-in-law has an abandoned barn on her property, and I'm always drawn to it.
ReplyDeleteI love old barns and their simple architecture...A beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that when I babysit my grandchildren I realize that it was not really all that simple when raising my children...I was simply young...
