gray dancer

the fog drapes the world in a silken gray mantle. holding it and comforting it as it awakens on a crisp november morning. as i walk through it, the crunch of acorn and oak leaves cushion my footsteps and i can smell the faint echo of smoke from the night before. the world is quiet, except for the fall of my feet and i can imagine being alone...then the traffic passes and reminds me of responsibilities and work beckons me. so, i climb into the jeep and go, again...watching the fog continue to dance...by itself. between the branches and along the grassblades.

silly fog.

  1. Just lovely, Char, photo and words. It made me want to take a walk in the fog, too.

  2. Sometimes fog is like a blanket in the mornings...one that holds us and gives us a little comfort. Makes the world seem a little smaller of a moment!
    Beautiful!

  8. I love the still silence of fog. Do you know the poem by Carl Sandberg:

    The fog comes
    on little cat feet.

    It sits looking
    over harbor and city
    on silent haunches
    and then moves on.

I've always loved the imagery of this verse.
