Who I See

When you look at this photo...nothing really "pops" out. I took this in Chicago during lunch hour. I see people reading, relaxing, and chatting with friends. I see people enjoying a really beautiful day under the John Hancock. What I think is significant about this photo is that I took this on September 11th.

When you look at the people in the photo, you don't see worry or fear or terror. It's been 8 years now. As I walked around the city everything felt normal...not that I was expecting anything different. But I kept thinking about that day...I was living in Chicago then. The day was so similar...sunny, happy and warm. As I walked around that day, I wondered if some people even forgot what happened...

  4. This is a lovely little square to sit in to eat lunch.

As for S11. time eases pain but I don't think anyone in the world can forget that day. I think it nice to see people going about the business in a normal fashion and not living in fear.

  5. I know...how many people actually think back to that time...and wonder.
I think about it every time I get on a plane, every time I get on a train...and every time I am in a big City.
Life goes on...but there are memories...beautiful post!

  11. Life moves on, we don't forget, but we learn to carry the memory differently. Beautiful reflection on a painful event.
