Open Spider Season

Autumn is the time we walk outside and either find ourselves entangled in an invisible strand of stickiness or abruptly stopping to avoid smashing head on with a gigantic spider sitting in the middle of it's beautifully stretched web. They are particularly large this time of year. After a summer of hiding and growing they come out into the open. Creepy & mesmerising in the same feeling, each time I encounter them. It's victim this time is an innocent pine needle. click on it...you'll be engaged in it's spider stare down.

  3. beautiful shot...i have had so many spiders like this around my house this year. we have left them all and watched them live, lay eggs, and spin a new web every day. it's funny that those little creepy crawlers are *not* my favorites, but i have really enjoyed watching them this year.

  8. That's a gorgeous spider! They play their part in the ecosystem, so I bear them no ill will. In fact, I really admire their hard work and their beauty.

Lovely fall colors in the distance!
