About 10 days ago I was at the farm where usually all is peaceful and quiet.
Not this time, I sat in the old rocking chair on the veranda and listened to the bawling of the calves being weaned from their mothers. I thought to myself, a little separation anxiety going on here! I knew that this sound would continue for about four or five days!
This is the season, reminding me of the winter ahead and the years behind me!
This was not going to be a quiet visit!
poor little babies....

I have to copy Char...poor little babies...that makes me sad. I would have to pack up and leave for the week, I could handle all the bawling!
ReplyDeletePoor babies! This stuff always breaks my heart...but, they will get through it eventually. I guess they always do.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that was happening on a farm near us where we walk. It sounds so mournful!
ReplyDeletei like your take on the theme...I have not ever heard this, I imagine it is loud!
ReplyDeleteSeparation anxiety~I can relate to this....when my daughter moved out and left home...you know that empty nest syndrome. I hope you all did not hear my bawling!
ReplyDeleteLovely pix, funny how even the cows go through a season of their own. Glad you noticed.
Cora, aww that makes me sad, I don't have children but every mother feels that way, so I can image how hard it can be. Excited for them to go out into the world, but wanting them to stay with you too! Enjoy every moment.
ReplyDeleteOh...that's a hard cry to hear...great take on the theme...and lovely picture.
ReplyDeleteChar
that's so sad...I can't imagine listening to that for very long before my heart would break....
ReplyDeleteWe all have to go through this, yes? All creatures under the heavens...

ReplyDeleteThis is a great take on out theme of the week!...I have not been on a farm enough to realize that there would have to be a season for weaning too...calves moaning and sad at the end of summer...that must be an eerie, sad sound...
